I used to wake up at 3am and check my messages.
Nothing.
Should I check their location?
If you have grown up children (whether they’re at university, living away from home, or just out for the night) you might know this feeling.
You’re aware it’s not entirely rational, but you can’t help it.
You’ve looked out for them their whole life.
Your partner is asleep soundly beside you. They’re fine. Why aren’t you?
Saturday nights used to be the worst.
And here’s the thing nobody tells you… the worry doesn’t stop when they leave home. It just changes shape.
But somewhere in those 3am moments there’s also a question worth sitting with.
Who is looking out for you?
You spent years pouring everything into them. And you’d do it all again.
But this is also your time.
To rest.
To think.
To work out what you actually need.
The worry may never fully disappear, but you can learn to carry it differently. 💛
Until next time…
