Day 43: Decluttering Really Does Clear Your Mind (And Your Kitchen)

A Decluttered Kitchen

I had couple of hours spare this morning before I had to be at work, so I spent the time clearing the breakfast bar of clutter and moving all the appliances around in the kitchen until I was happy with how it looked.

I even moved the AeroGarden again having already moved it yesterday when I cleaned it out and added new plants. I just wasn’t happy with where it was.

After I’d finished I was drawn to the clear space and sat there with my laptop writing loads of notes in just five minutes. It was amazing how quickly the words were flowing from my mind into my fingertips. Decluttering really does clear your mind.

When I got to work I showed my friend this picture and she said it looked great and really calming. I told her that I’d only shown her one side of the room, ha ha. She said “it looks like a place where life happens but the crumbs aren’t there”. She (like me) takes decluttering very seriously.

My girls commented later how lovely the kitchen looked and immediately sat there to do their homework. And they tidied everything away afterwards (thank you girls). So, I can go to sleep now happy that it will still look like that in the morning.

Until tomorrow…

About Sandra Madeira

I am a working mum and entrepreneur with a passion for writing, coaching, mentoring and inspiring others. Subjects I tend to blog about are life skills, parenting, decluttering, worklife balance, career etc. I’ve been on a decluttering mission for years creating space in my house, garden and mind. In 2020 I challenged myself to declutter every day for a whole year and write about it daily. After that success I took on a challenge to change my career from accountant to life coach, and in early 2024 set up my own company. I continue to keep up with the decluttering, and now write daily about my home life and coaching business. Have a good day!
