Tidying Uninviting Corners

A tidy corner of the lounge

It’s Friday! I wanted to get a quick bit of decluttering done this evening so that I can relax and do something nice. I spotted the untidy and uninviting corner of the lounge when I walked in from work and decided to tackle that.

Lounge corner before and after tidying

We are looking to improve the layout of the lounge and do some decorating at some point later this year so this isn’t a room that I will be focusing on much during my decluttering sessions. There’s not much that needs doing in this room anyway.

We’re also looking to make the whole room more cosy and inviting, by changing the sofa and adding better ceiling and wall lights. I would love everything to be brighter. We’re just struggling to agree on colours and fabrics. That’s the hardest bit, so it could take a while.

Until then, I will just focus on keeping this corner tidy so that I have somewhere to sit and have my cup of tea and write if I’m not in the mood for watching TV. That’s over the other side of the room, although I can watch it from here.

Until tomorrow…

  1. Nice to have a corner at least where calm prevails. Took me forever to decide on a color of paint for my dining room then thought I would use it in my living room too, as it looks different in both rooms because of the amount of natural light. Once I decided on the color the spareness of the room kind of appealed to me, easier to keep clean.
