I had a brief walk/jog outside this morning, which is the first time since the lockdown. This morning I just felt like it. I kind of felt a bit uneasy about going out though but didn’t leave myself much time to think about it, I just got dressed and went about 8.45am. The rest of the family weren’t even up at this point being a Saturday.
As I walked down the road, that I’ve walked down hundreds of times before, I felt like I shouldn’t be there. It felt strange. In the fifteen minutes that I was out, I saw six people in total (four adults and two children) and two dogs. The first man went by on a bike and said good morning (from a safe distance) and then I saw another man with his son, so I crossed the road and he thanked me. The others that I saw were in the distance, so I avoided where they were walking. All in all, it was okay, so I think I’ll go out again, but maybe earlier in the morning.
After a bit of breakfast, we had family time in the lounge and watched old videos (you know, the little tapes that go into the old video cameras) as well as some DVDs that my mum created for us from some of her footage many years ago when the girls were small. We had such a laugh watching them and it felt cosy spending time together in the lounge.
Early afternoon, they all went to do something else and I took the opportunity to read the book I’ve been wanting to read. I don’t get to sit in the lounge much on my own and it was lovely and quiet. I was getting a bit distracted about how untidy it was though. Nothing major, just surface and floor clutter, so that became my topic for today’s blog.
Decluttering the surfaces and floor in the lounge

I knew that I didn’t have long before everyone would come back in so I started with taking all the unnecessary items out, then did some dusting and polishing. I finished off with vacuuming the floor, sofas and cushions. My husband came back in towards the end and fixed one of the attachments to the vacuum cleaner that hasn’t been working for a whole (that was a bonus as it meant that I could clean the sofa cushions properly).

The room’s not perfect as I had to leave out the DVD’s, box of tapes, and also the video camera that we were using to watch the tapes.
Later on my husband cooked some lovely fillet steaks for dinner and I had them with vegetables and a waffle.

All in all a pretty chilled out and also productive day.
Until tomorrow…
Sandra
It is funny how people start de-cluttering and then they can’t sit in a room that needs tidying up.
You’re right, I just can’t help it these days
