Day 170: A New Home for Plastic Containers and a Basic Manicure For Me and My Daughter

It was a long working day today for me and I ended up finishing later than normal. Everyone was hungry and we didn’t have much in the fridge. I really felt like getting a takeaway but then changed my mind at the last minute and popped to the shops instead to get a few items to tide us over until the shopping arrives in the morning. I’m now pleased with my decision because we ended up eating healthier.

My progress today

The wrong place for plastic containers

Whilst clearing up after dinner and putting things away from the dishwasher, I decided that plastic containers needed a new home. They were in a low cupboard and so I swapped them to a drawer.

The new home for plastic containers

Being a large wide drawer, it’s easier to see everything that’s there rather than bending down low to get to the back of the small cupboard. We’ll have to see if it will make them more accessible going forward. The items are having to share the drawer with the chopping boards and sieves at the moment until I work out if that’s the best place for those.

Time for a manicure!

My youngest daughter needed help with her homework today. She doesn’t normally ask, so it was nice to be able to assist. As she chatted to me about her history question, I sensed that it was more motivation that she needed rather than help and so I sat with her for just over an hour whilst we read through the information online together. She came up with all the ideas herself and it read really well afterwards. I was basically just there for support and guidance (my newly acquired coaching course skills are paying off).

I could see how hard she was working, so as a little treat I offered to give her a manicure this evening. We sat together listening to music whilst I filed her nails, buffed them up and gave them a quick polish with clear varnish. She was happy!

All you need for a basic manicure

She then updated the online shopping order for me whilst I gave myself a quick manicure. I think we’ll move onto painting toes tomorrow. In the summer I quite like to have a gel manicure on my toes, but due to covid-19 and salons not being open at the moment, I’ll have to make do with the nail varnishes I have in the house. This way, at least I’ll be able to review what I have and throw out the ones I don’t need anymore… yeah, more decluttering!

Until tomorrow…
