Day 219: A Long Working Day, A Trip Out and a Cute Dog to Play With

A cockapoo dog

As my husband has this week off work, he wanted to go and visit his dad and step mum. I was working but really wanted to go as we haven’t seen them for 7 months. It’s only an hour’s drive away so I thought that if we travelled there during my lunch break I could continue working in their garden in the afternoon.

I finished my busy morning of calls and we all travelled up. I hadn’t realised that their garden was south facing so it was far too hot for all of us to be sheltered under their one umbrella and still social distance, so I ended up working in their conservatory for the two hour call that I had. They had a fan so it was okay.

We had fish and chips after I finished work and then I wandered around their beautiful garden. I tried to imagine what our garden would look like if it was as neat and tidy and established as theirs. It made me realise how a garden could look when you know your plants and take care of them. I loved their rose trees, bushes and other plants and flowers (shame that I didn’t take any photos to add here). It was nice to see a different and established garden and it gave me a few ideas.

I tried to relax and enjoy myself for the last hour that we were there, as I knew that I needed to do some system testing for work when I got home this evening. It’s difficult to declutter on a day like this, so I thought of it as time to recharge and clear some space in my mind in between working. I also played with the cockerpoo dog that they are looking after for a few days. I’m allergic to dogs but being outside and making sure I washed my hands thoroughly afterwards was okay.

I spent ages throwing the ball and he just ran off to retrieve it and nuzzled it into my hand each time, making sure that I’d got hold of it before he let go. I enjoyed myself just as much as he did I think. I really needed that time out even if it was short.

The temperature is going to be in the mid-thirties tomorrow so I’m not sure if I’m going to survive working in our conservatory. I will probably opt for a day in the spare room as my husband isn’t working in there this week.

All in all, a very pleasant day. I think it was just nice to get out of the house and have a change of scenery.

Until tomorrow…

    He’s seriously cute!

  3. A dog can take you away from everyday thoughts very quickly. They live in the moment and force you to do the same.
