There is No Clearing Without Self-Care

I had no idea when I wrote the post Thirteen Days in Decluttering Mode last year, that it’s more difficult to clear the clutter when you’re not balancing it with lots of self-care.

I got better at the self-care towards the second half of last year; however, I was still crazy busy all the time. This year has been very different in terms of making sure that I have ample time for myself every day.

Stephanie Bennett Vogt has taught me a lot in her book A Year to Clear which I’m working through this year in an attempt to eliminate more of the clutter. On day 13 of the book she says…

Compassion is the feel good principle of clearing. When we feel safe, supported, and good we are more likely to let go.

A Year to Clear, Stephanie Bennett Vogt

Whether you are struggling to clear the clutter, or just busy all of the time, have a think about how you can add more self-care into your day.

Until next time…

About Sandra Madeira

I am a working mum and entrepreneur with a passion for writing, coaching, mentoring and inspiring others. Subjects I tend to blog about are life skills, parenting, decluttering, worklife balance, career etc. I’ve been on a decluttering mission for years creating space in my house, garden and mind. In 2020 I challenged myself to declutter every day for a whole year and write about it daily. After that success I took on a challenge to change my career from accountant to life coach, and in early 2024 set up my own company. I continue to keep up with the decluttering, and now write daily about my home life and coaching business. Have a good day! 1. High five me girl! 😀 It’s #teamtomm kitchen day today (I HATE Thursdays lol) but I will still make sure I do something nice for me. I’m plannning a nap and a ready meal, so no cooking 😉 x

    • A nap sounds lovely 😊. I just looked at my kitchen and remembered that it’s #teamtomm kitchen day and won’t even get to start it until I’ve finished work late afternoon. It’s going to take longer than 30 mins I think 😀! My hallway is looking good from yesterday though but then that’s an easy one. Good luck today xx

  2. We do need to take care of ourselves if we are going to be any help to others. It is not selfish though I am sure a lot of people look at it that way.

  3. Love this! Thank you for giving the insight, definitely made me think 😊
