10 minute away from a clear desk
This evening I really wanted to spend some focused time writing a few reflective learning logs for a coaching course that I’m doing at work. The best place to do this was at my desk in the spare room but it unfortunately looked like this…

Desk before the 10 minute clear up
The stuff is basically just a combination of remains from various family members (including me!) doing their work or dumping stuff there over the last few weeks.
I thought about walking away to either awkwardly prop myself up in bed to study or to try and do it from the sofa (both ideas very bad for my posture), when I remembered that I hadn’t come up with a decluttering challenge for today.
So, I set the timer for ten minutes and started clearing the mess. With just 9 seconds to go, I ran for the polish cloth and gave it a spray and wipe. Done!
I’m now writing this blog which has taken about five minutes, leaving me plenty of time to read through my course notes and complete what I need to do online.
If I had decided to study from the sofa or bed, I would most certainly have fallen asleep and given myself a neck ache.
My tip for today is to never feel overwhelmed. Jut give yourself a helping hand. You could be just ten minute away from calm.
Until tomorrow…
