Day 125: Making Use of a Small Kitchen Cupboard to Store Trays Vertically Instead of Horizontally

As part of the mass kitchen reorganisation this week, I was left with nowhere to put the lap trays and serving trays. They used to lie flat one on top of the other and it was difficult to get our own tray out (it was never the one on top). It was an inefficient use of one of our largest drawers. When my daughter identified the other day that it was better for plates and bowls, the trays got taken out and put on the side.

We couldn’t think where they would fit until I opened one of our small ‘no purpose’ cupboards this evening and had the idea to store them all vertically instead. And they actually fitted! It’s a much better use of the bottom shelf of the cupboard. It was only used for unnecessary random stuff anyway.

Unfortunately the random stuff that was on the bottom shelf has now been dumped in the utility room (a room that I clear parts of, only to fill it again). Sometimes it does feel I’m robbing Peter to pay Paul, ha ha.

I was mentally tired this evening when I sat down to type this up. It was a long day; I literally got out of bed five minutes before I had to log onto work this morning and then worked non-stop until after six pm, with only a short break to make lunch and hang some washing out.

Then it was straight onto chores this evening: washing, emptying bins for bin day tomorrow, watering plants, and making dinner (the list actually felt longer than that).

The TV and chattering in the lounge this evening was going straight through my head so I asked if we could sit in silence for five minutes. That was twenty minutes ago and it’s still so peaceful; it was also enough time for me to perfect this post and press submit.

Until tomorrow…
