Day 132: Does Surface Clutter Make You Anxious?

Last week’s mass kitchen decluttering left a lot of surface clutter including items with no home. It finally got to me today and I had to take action. I sorted out some of the remaining cupboards – the top three shelves of the food cupboard (below) and a corner one that I haven’t quite finished yet.

The main thing I did in this cupboard was throw things away that were out of date and move things that didn’t belong there. Here’s where I got to…

I still have a lot of items to make decisions about which are in one corner of the kitchen. That’ll have to wait until tomorrow. So, some of the surface clutter is still there but it’s not making me as anxious.

Here are a few fun items that were taking up a lot of room on the top shelf that will be going in the charity bag. The girls are a bit old for them now so I don’t know why I’ve kept them.

Do you have items in your kitchen cupboards that stay there longer than they need to?

Until tomorrow…

  1. I will say that my pantry closet is a lot more orderly now that I have containers for my staples. Yes, I did buy them new, but I know how much they hold so I know when to buy more as they are clear and they are square and fit nicely. It was bad before, I would lose things in the back, forgot I had it and buy more, things would go off and overall it stressed me out whenever I opened it which was multiple times a day.
